Adrienne’s Meat Sauce

Adrienne’s Meat Sauce (made on Day 17)

Pour 1 to 2 tbsp of olive oil in a pan on med-high.

Chop approx 1/2 cup of onions (red, shallots or white – whatever you have is fine) and mince 2 to 3 cloves of garlic.

Add the onions to the oil and saute for a 2 minutes, add garlic and saute for another minute.

Add 1/2 pound of ground beef until cooked. Remove excess fat (if you don’t do this your sauce will be really greasy).

Add the tomatoes – 1 to 2 cans of diced or crushed San Marzano tomatoes and some fresh basil.

Chop and add fresh rosemary (roughly 1 tbsp), salt, pepper and a few glugs of red wine (approx 1/4 cup).

Cook for a few hours on low heat.

I like to serve this with Pappardelle or Farfalle noodles and freshly grated parmigiano cheese.
